How Scotland to Europe Works
The journey from Scotland to Europe is longer, so we plan it carefully:
Edinburgh/Glasgow to Paris Example
- Day 1: Collect from Edinburgh/Glasgow, drive south to Folkestone area (6-7 hours)
- Overnight: Rest near Folkestone, early evening arrival
- Day 2: Early Eurotunnel crossing, drive to Paris (4-5 hours)
- Delivery: Mid-afternoon delivery in Paris
For closer destinations like Calais, we may complete the journey in one day with early collection.
Why Scottish Pet Owners Choose Us
We Come to You
Many pet transport services ask Scottish customers to meet them in England. We don't – we collect from your door in Scotland, whether that's central Edinburgh or rural Aberdeenshire.
Break Planning
The longer UK leg means more opportunities for breaks. We stop every 2-3 hours for your pet's comfort, with longer stops in scenic areas where possible.
Overnight Stop Option
For many Scottish journeys, we include an overnight stop near Folkestone. This breaks the journey and means your pet arrives fresh for the Channel crossing and European leg.
Scottish Weather Ready
We're experienced with Scottish weather. Winter snow, summer midges – we plan accordingly and keep your pet comfortable regardless of conditions.

Why Scottish Pet Owners Choose Ground Transport for Europe
Scotland to mainland Europe is one of the longest single-country pet movements in our network, but it is also one where ground transport most decisively beats flying. Scottish departures via Heathrow or Manchester involve multiple cargo handovers; ground transport keeps the pet with one driver in one vehicle for the entire journey.
The Scottish Geography Picture
Edinburgh and Glasgow sit approximately 8–9 hours of driving from the Eurotunnel terminal. From Aberdeen, Inverness, or the Highlands, total UK-side drive time can exceed 10 hours, which means almost all Scotland-to-Europe pet movements are split into two driving days with overnight rest in northern England or southern UK.
Common Scottish Customer Profiles
- Edinburgh and Glasgow corporate relocations: Financial services, biotech, academic.
- Highlands and rural retirees with French or Italian holiday homes.
- Scottish breeders supplying continental European buyers, particularly for Highland-region working breeds.
- Scottish students and academics on European university postings.
The Two-Day Service Tier
For genuinely long Scottish-origin journeys, we offer a two-day split-journey option with overnight pet rest at our Folkestone facility (or a partner kennel). This dramatically reduces in-vehicle time per leg and is the recommended welfare option for senior pets, anxious rescues, and cats.
