Brussels Airport (BRU) Specifics
If your pet is arriving at Brussels Airport from outside the EU, the cargo handover is:
- Brussels Airlines uses the BRU cargo terminal (Brucargo zone, west of the runway).
- Animal Care Centre BRU processes the pet release — typically 60-90 minutes from wheels-down.
- EU Animal Health Certificate issued on the spot by the FAVV (Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain) Official Veterinarian.

Why You Can't Take Your Pet on Eurostar
The single most-asked Brussels question we get: "Can I take the dog on Eurostar?" The answer is no — Eurostar accepts only registered assistance dogs. Eurostar trains have no pet cargo, no pet quiet carriage, and no policy for accompanied pets. The Channel Tunnel rail service (Le Shuttle) does accept pets — but only when they're inside a vehicle, which is the service we provide. You and your pet travel together in our vehicle through the same Channel Tunnel, just on a different train.
Belgian Documentation Requirements
For UK entry from Belgium your pet needs:
- ISO 15-digit microchip implanted before the rabies vaccine.
- Current rabies vaccination — at least 21 days old.
- EU Animal Health Certificate from a FAVV-authorised vet, dated within 10 days of UK arrival.
- Tapeworm treatment for dogs, administered 24-120 hours before UK arrival (we can arrange this at a Brussels vet the day before travel).
